Created a splash page for the Wizard101 site.
I had redone the splash page for the site and it was very well received. Well enough to warrant
a larger makeover. It was decided to try and move the character creation process to the website,
as much as possible. Giving the users a greater attachment to their character before being asked to
download the game.
This project moved the bulk of the process into flash. This game me a lot more control over effects and
appearance. I got to work very closely with the marketing department to create the design from
scratch and really have influence of the look and feel. I set the project up to be as flexible as possible.
Each stage of the process is its
own flash file and they can be juggled around, added or removed with a few lines of javascript. Almost
every piece of content is set from outside the flash file, so minor updates don't
require a republish. My favorite section is the name chooser. I'm really happy with the scrolling
effect on the name wheels.
Once the user has clicked through to the main site, a cookie is set to make sure that they don't have
to pass through the splash page again.
