The marker utility came about as a request to create an application that would be able to display text and/or thumbnails when the user would mouse over different sections of an image. It was specifically being created to talk about the different worlds in wizard.

I (correctly) assumed that this would be an application that the content creators would want to use in other areas so I tried to make it as flexible as possible. The background and thumbnail images, thumbnail text and positions are all user defined. Some later requests also added the ability to set up the markers to link to another page or display a video when clicked. The utility is resizeable so it can be scaled to fit whatever content area is required. In order to make it useable for other projects it has also been made skinnable, loading in all the graphical assets from a site specific file on initialization.
