The slaver ants is a project I'm working on to help market my university's
artificial
life program. This is ending up being the second of three that
will be completed. I thought the termite
would be the second but that project was canceled and I was moved
onto this one, which is working out to be for the best. The idea behind
this one is to demonstrate the use of the
slaver ant algorithm to drive enemy behavior in a video game.
I'm working with two modelers: Erika Peinado and Heather
Grice; and two animators: Cody
Woodard and Trent
Kollodge; and Abe Stopani as the compositor. My role is sort of
a generalist on this one since we're re-using the ant rig, so I'm
doing most of the texturing and lighting, some modeling, some rigging
adaptations and working as sort of a visual director. This is a much
larger scale project than anything I've worked on in the past and
we should be getting some pretty cool looking stuff by the end of
it.
